Digital Transport - Satellites and the Future of Transport

04 Mar 2026
South Gallery Meeting Room 20
Objective: To explore how ubiquitous connectivity can transform transport infrastructure and services, and to foster collaboration between innovators and public-sector stakeholders. By convening policymakers, infrastructure operators, and satellite solution providers, the roundtable will highlight how next-generation connectivity enables “digital” or “naked” roads (minimal roadside infrastructure with information delivered in-car) and solves connectivity challenges on transport networks (roads, rail, and beyond). Ultimately, the session aims to spark partnerships and initiatives that leverage satellite communication for more efficient, autonomous, and user-centric transport systems. Target Market:This roundtable is aimed at professionals and decision-makers in transport, infrastructure, and connectivity innovation. Example target attendees and job titles include: - Government transport policymakers - e.g., Department for Transport innovation leads, digital infrastructure policy advisors - National infrastructure operators - e.g., National Highways and Network Rail digital strategy managers, heads of innovation - Public sector digital leaders - e.g., Chief Digital/Data Officers in transport agencies or emergency services - Satellite communications & connectivity providers - e.g., CTOs, product directors at satcom and telematics companies - Smart mobility and autonomous vehicle experts - e.g., heads of R&D at automotive OEMs or mobility service providers Roundtable Synopsis: Examining how always-on connectivity enables digital transport and seamless on-the-move communications. We’ll discuss implications for highways, rail, emergency fleets, and a future of shared autonomous vehicles. Leaders from government (DfT), national infrastructure (National Highways, Network Rail), and cutting-edge satellite firms will debate how direct satellite-to-device links can slash infrastructure costs, eliminate coverage dead zones, and revolutionise travel. The session will spark new collaborations between innovators and decision-makers to drive these concepts forward. PLEASE NOTE: This session will be held off the show floor, in the South Gallery Meeting Room 20.
