The Downstream Question: Data Rights, Liability and Access for Non-Space Companies
The EU Space Act is designed with satellite operators in mind, but its consequences reach much further. Insurers, energy majors, telecoms and cloud providers are all now core users of space-derived data, yet most have no seat at the table shaping the rules governing it: data licensing, liability when a satellite fails or is compromised, and market access for non-EU data sources. This session picks up where the You're Already a Space Company (You Just Don't Know It) panel left off, asking what genuine downstream users actually need from regulation, and whether current frameworks understand, or even see, their role in the space economy at all.
