Pedro Duque

Pedro Duque holds a Master’s degree in Physics and Biomedical Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. With more than 18 years of experience in innovation management and R&D, he has led complex international projects in both space and biomedical technology sectors. Currently serving as Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) at Entangled Space, Pedro is responsible for driving the company’s technological strategy in quantum-secure communications. He oversees the development of advanced Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems, including space-based architectures, hybrid PQC+QKD security frameworks, and associated ground segment technologies. His role encompasses the coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams, the integration of photonic and quantum technologies, and the alignment of product development with stringent quality and compliance standards. Pedro has extensive experience managing the full project lifecycle, from proposal preparation and system architecture definition to validation, testing, and deployment, under recognized quality frameworks such as ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. His leadership ensures rigorous technical governance, effective risk management, and the successful integration of cutting-edge quantum technologies into operational, market-ready solutions.
