Ian Downey coordinates the UK Ambassador Platform Network of Regional Ambassadors for European Space Agency (ESA) Business Applications. Ian has over 30 years’ experience in remote sensing and satellite applications in private and public sector organisations, needs analysis and business development. The UK Ambassador Platform network encourages UK activities that will deliver sustainable space-based services and applications to new user communities and customers. It is part of a wider ESA Space Solutions business support network to raise awareness of the funding opportunities for commercially sustainable projects using or enabled by space. The regional Ambassadors offer business support expertise across the UK. The UK already has a strong presence in the global space market, and seeks continued growth especially in downstream applications.
