Professor Everett Dolman

Dr. Everett Carl Dolman was for many years Professor of Comparative Military Strategy (now retired) at the US Air Force’s Air War College and most recently visiting Professor of Space Strategy at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. Identified as Air University’s first space theorist, his teaching and publications provided much of the intellectual framework for establishing the US Space Force. Dr. Dolman began his career as an intelligence analyst for the National Security Agency and moved to the United States Space Command in 1986. In 1991, he received the Director of Central Intelligence’s Outstanding Intelligence Analyst award, which provided support for Dr. Dolman’s PhD in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He then taught international relations and international political economy at The College of William & Mary, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, and Berry College before taking his position at Air University in Alabama in 2001. Three years later he received the Air Force’s Educator of the Year Award. His published works include Astropolitik, The Warrior State, Pure Strategy, Can Science End War?, and 36 peer-reviewed articles and chapters. He has also presented more than 100 conference papers, dozens of invited presentations, and numerous media appearances. Dr. Dolman is co-founder and editor emeritus of Astropolitics: The International Journal of Space Power and Policy.
