David Hill
David is Director of Strategic Navigation Programmes at Viasat, where he is leading SBAS and PNT-related developments. His experience in the European and North American aerospace sectors stretches back to the early 1990s, having worked on commercial space telecommunications, space applications, and human spaceflight programmes. David has been involved in SBAS systems for air navigation applications since the mid-1990s, having worked client-side on the EGNOS and GALILEO programmes. His professional capabilities and interests are centred in the areas of strategic innovation, technology transfer, and strategy formulation & implementation.
David has previously worked at Avanti Communications, EGIS/Helios, the European Space Agency, Vega/Telespazio, NASA Centre for Commercial Development of Space Power (Auburn University, AL, US), involved in space navigation, power systems, operations and research in space debris/sustainability aspects. David has a B.Sc. in Physics with Astrophysics and a PhD in Space Physics, undertaking research in the field of space debris, spacecraft environments and hypervelocity impact effects on spacecraft power systems. David has also undertaken business consulting and development courses at Hult School of Management (Ashridge).
