Adam Sobey
Adam Sobey is a Non-Executive Director at Theyr Ltd, an Associate Professor in Artificial Intelligence for Marine Applications in the Maritime Engineering group at the University of Southampton and group lead for Marine and Maritime in the Data-Centric Engineering programme of the Alan Turing Institute, the UKs national institute for AI and Data Science. He was awarded the Royal Institution of Naval Architects Jeom Paik Prize for using soft computing to analyse ship structures. He has developed the fundamental research for JAWS (Just Add Water System) for Shell Shipping and Maritime who are currently commercialising the automated machine learning approach to fuel prediction with Kongsberg, who have installed the app on 11 LNG carriers. He has also developed the world-leading cMLSGA algorithm, used by Olesinski in leisure design to reduce concept design from 2 weeks to 2 days, and for Voyage Optimisation, with Theyr, as part of T-VOS.
