National Armaments Director Group

The National Armaments Director (NAD) Group is a senior UK government body responsible for coordinating defence equipment, capability development and armaments cooperation across the UK Ministry of Defence and with international partners. The group leads strategic planning for defence acquisition, harmonises capability requirements, and drives collaborative development and procurement of advanced technologies that strengthen national and allied defence posture. At Space-Comm Europe, the NAD Group is relevant because secure satellite communications, resilient space infrastructure and integrated defence capabilities are increasingly central to national security. By aligning defence requirements with technology development and international collaboration, the NAD Group helps ensure that space-enabled communication systems meet stringent security and operational standards, support interoperable missions and enhance the UK’s contribution to Europe’s secure space ecosystem.
